House Majority Leadership Issues Statement on Conclusion of Ethics Investigation

DOVER – Following the conclusion of the Ethics Committee investigation into Rep. Josue Ortega, House Majority Leadership, including Speaker Melissa Minor-Brown, Majority Leader Kerri Evelyn Harris, and Majority Whip Ed Osienski, issued the following joint statement:

“The House of Representatives Ethics Committee formally opened a preliminary investigation into allegations that Representative Josue Ortega had engaged in actions that may have been a violation of the Legislative Code of Conduct. 

“In light of the results of the September 15 primary election, the Ethics Committee unanimously voted today to close the investigation and take no further action. Neither the related criminal matter nor subsequent proceedings of the Ethics Committee can be resolved before Representative Ortega’s term of office expires.

“Per House Rules, we will not be able to comment further on this matter.”
