Speaker Longhurst Reacts to Final Passage of House Substitute 2 for House Bill 350

May 21, 2024

DOVER – House Speaker Valerie Longhurst released the following statement on Tuesday, following the final House passage of HB 350(S):

“Today, we passed landmark legislation that will impact Delawareans in every corner of our state.

“For far too long, Delawareans have been burdened with some of the highest healthcare costs in the nation. These costs not only limit residents’ ability to access necessary care but also strain family budgets, leaving less money for essentials like groceries and housing.

“With the final passage of HB 350 (S), we took an important step to get rising healthcare prices under control while bringing much needed transparency to our hospital pricing.

“Through this collaborative process, I would like to extend my thanks to the bill’s Senate prime sponsor, Senate Majority Leader Brian Townsend, the Governor, the team at the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services, and the leadership of Delaware’s hospital system for the countless hours they have invested in delivering legislation that will provide relief to our constituents.”
