Legislative Leaders Announce Schedule for Special Committee Hearings

September 26, 2025

DOVER –  On Friday, House Speaker Melissa Minor-Brown and Senate Pro Tempore Dave Sokola announced schedule details for all four public hearings of the bipartisan Special Committee tasked with investigating Delaware’s recent statewide property reassessment.

The Special Committee, comprised of a group of bipartisan Representatives and Senators from both chambers, will hold hearings throughout the fall that focus on different aspects of the reassessment process and the organizations involved. The ultimate goal of these hearings is to provide Delawareans with a full and transparent accounting of the reassessment process and to recommend legislation that could improve the process and provide fairness to all taxpayers. Each hearing will include dedicated time for public comment.

These hearings will be held in the House and Senate chambers in Legislative Hall and will be livestreamed on the General Assembly’s website.

“Delawareans have been very clear that they want answers on how we got to this place, and they deserve to hear that information directly from the organizations and entities involved,” said House Speaker Melissa Minor-Brown.

“By bringing together a special committee with different perspectives and experiences from across the state, we’re going to be digging into this topic from every angle so we can work toward fairer and more equitable reassessments in the future.”

“We are committed to dedicating the next several weeks to continuing our thorough examination of the challenges we faced during Delaware’s first-in-two-generations property reassessment,” said Senate Majority Leader Bryan Townsend.

“I look forward to putting our heads down and working together over the coming months to really drill down on what happened, and make recommendations about how we can move forward on behalf of the people of Delaware.”
