House Democratic Leadership & Delaware Legislative Black Caucus Issue Statement On The Death Of Reverend Jesse Jackson

February 17, 2026

DOVER- House Democratic Caucus leadership – Speaker Melissa Minor-Brown, Majority Leader Kerri Evelyn Harris, and Majority Whip Ed Osienski – along with DLBC Chairs Rep. Nnamdi Chukwuocha and Rep. Frank Cooke, issued the following joint statement on the death of Reverend Jesse Jackson:

“Reverend Jesse Jackson was one of the most consequential, courageous, and transformative leaders our country has ever known.

“Through his many decades of leadership, he expanded the boundaries of what many believed was politically and socially possible, inspired generations of leaders, opened doors that had long been closed, and made life materially better for countless Americans.

“Reverend Jackson embodied the best of a generation of leaders who refused to accept what those in power forced upon the downtrodden as the status quo. He dedicated his entire life to creating a better world for us all, fighting injustice not only in America but also championing voiceless and oppressed people around the world.

“Our thoughts today are with his family, his loved ones, and all those whose lives were touched by his extraordinary example. His impact will endure for generations and he will no doubt be greatly missed.”
